Following on from a very strong 2013 for equity markets globally, in which a rising tide carried most stocks higher, we believe that 2014 will prove more challenging. Success in achieving good returns will revert to individual stock picking as opposed to index tracking.

As European economies begin their recoveries during 2014, we believe that equity markets this side of the Atlantic will outperform versus US alternatives.
