Yeats’s appealing vista of repose leads Adam’s sale
Man Reading makes its auction debut
Never before seen in public, Man Reading by Jack B Yeats makes its auction debut at Adam’s this week. The public house seen as a place not to get drunk in, but where one could read and reflect, is a recurring theme in the Yeats canon. This depiction dates from 1945, when it was bought directly from Waddington’s. Measuring 23 × 36 cm, it has an estimate of €60,000-€80,000.
