Yahoo Japan to buy SoftBank's eAccess in push for mobile service

Yahoo Japan have agreed to buy eAccess for 324 billion yen ($3.2 billion) from parent company SoftBank.

Shares of Yahoo Japan fell 2.9 per cent in Tokyo today before the announcement.

Yahoo Japan have agreed to buy eAccess Ltd. for 324 billion yen ($3.2 billion) from parent SoftBank, as the nation’s most-visited Web portal expands in wireless data and voice businesses.

Yahoo Japan will start a new service to be called “Y!mobile” that shares phone networks with SoftBank, and the transaction will go ahead once eAccess completes a merger with Willcom Inc., Yahoo Japan said in a statement today.
