Orla Nic Shuibhne is managing director of Seachtain na Gaeilge, an Irish language festival that runs from March 5 to 17. Established by Conradh na Gaeilge in 1902, the festival is funded primarily by Foras na Gaeilge to promote the use of Irish langu

Events planned for this year include conversation evenings, street céilís, blind dating and surfing lessons ‘as Gaeilge’. The festival’s organisers will also release Ceol, a compilation Irish language album featuring the Swell Season, Eddi Reader, The Coronas, Bell X1, Gemma Hayes, Luan Parle, Mundy and Kíla.
