The EU is trying to encourage more female students to take up computer science.
There is a shortage of about 300,000 qualified IT workers across Europe and the European Commission believes young women could fill this gap.
“We need to overcome common stereotypes which say that IT careers are boring and too technical for women,” said Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for the Information Society and Media.
