With signs of an improving market, motor dealers are hoping 2014 will bring a much needed boost to their fortunes, writes Shane O'Donoghue.

This year is the second to use Ireland's two-plate system for registrations. As of January 1, all new cars registered featured a plate with the prefix 141. This will change to 142 at the halfway point of the year, though it is still expected that the majority of new car sales will take place in the first quarter of 2014.
