The amount of wind energy produced by Ireland’s wind farms hit record levels in the first six months of the year, according to an industry body.

Wind energy met an average 23 per cent of Ireland’s electricity demand over the six-month period between December 2013 and May 2014, a considerable increase on the same period last year, according to new figures issued by the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA).
