Traveller feuding has emerged as a key reason behind the fact that more than 350 Traveller accommodation sites are lying idle around the country, nearly one in five of all those available.

At present, 178 permanent halting sites, 78 group housing schemes, 80 basic service sites for caravans and 40 transient sites are lying empty. This accounts for almost one fifth of the 1,860 Traveller-specific sites in the country.
