Wicklow County Council has been added as a defendant to a €30 million lawsuit, amid allegations that the local authority used one of the largest illegal dumps in the country.

The council is facing High Court proceedings in relation to the Whitestown landfill near Donard in west Wicklow. During a preliminary hearing last month, Mr Justice Clarke told agents for the council that it had a serious case to answer in relation to the illegal...
