Mobile networks are not the only infrastructure to support wire-free connectivity in Ireland.

Last year saw Imagine begin to roll out its WiMax service, delivering speeds of 7Mbps and promising to cover 90 per cent of the population by 2012.

Another more established technology, however, is still providing a valuable service to working people on the move. Bitzbuzz has been building its network of hotspots since 2003.
