Whyte’s art sale is the cat’s whiskers
Next week, works by Henry, Jack B Yeats, Lavery, le Brocquy, and a newly discovered Orpen drawing will go under the hammer at Whyte’s.
The Orpen, believed to portray his daughter holidaying in Howth, is a blissful picture of youthful abandon (€30,000–€50,000).
The Henry is West of Ireland Bog (€80,000–€100,000), and the Yeats is Against the Stream (€60,000–€80,000). Yeats’s appeal lies in his humanity.
