Why mobile is critical to Facebook's SME drive

Just 4 per cent of the 25 million firms on the social network pay for advertising, writes Emmet Ryan.

Mobile is critical to Facebook's push to attract more revenue from small businesses, according to the social network's small business director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Facebook's Ciaran Quilty told *The Sunday Business Post* that 53 per cent of Facebook's revenue came via mobile usage. He made the comments at the announcement of Facebook's council for small and medium businesses in EMEA, which was launched by the company's chief operations officer Sheryl Sandberg.
