Who's making money from nursing homes?

Encouraged by generous tax reliefs, the private nursing home sector has attracted a number of business heavyweights, write Susan Mitchell and Samantha McCaughren.

There has been huge growth in the number of private nursing homes in Ireland on the back of generous tax breaks. There are 411 private nursing homes and a further 50 voluntary operators. Nursing home chains have mushroomed and international players have entered the Irish market.
