Where history comes alive
While Cambodia is a stunningly beautiful country, it is also steeped in a varied history which will fascinate visitors, writes Nicola Cooke.
They say patience is a virtue; what they don't say is that it's a virtue needed in volumes while travelling on tuk-tuks in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.
While the city was developed in a grid by the French, the non-existent numbering "system' places route 77 alongside 13, and 24 across from 96. Despite our tuk-tuk driver insisting that he knew his way, it took several stops and 25 minutes to reach our hotel.
