Wexford Festival Opera rewards our patience

David Agler, artistic director of Wexford Festival Opera, recently announced the details of this year’s event with an air of resignation.

The organisers were left hanging for months awaiting confirmation of the government’s funding allocation, leaving the festival in a state of stasis.

Agler thanked patrons for their patience. ‘‘While the continued economic climate of Ireland no doubt has to be considered when programming the festival, I am still heartened by the spirit of the festival,” he said.
