Galen Weston, who turns 66 later this month, owns the Brown Thomas department stores in Ireland, Selfridges in England and Holt Renfrew in Canada. His family has a controlling interest in 1,200 supermarkets across North America. His fortune is estimated to be worth almost €7 billion.

His family owns a controlling interest in Associated British Foods, the company behind the Penneys and Primark shops and brands such as Twinings, Ryvita, Kingsmill, Ovaltine and Tip Top.
