David Went, the former chief executive of Irish Life & Permanent, is expected to be named as the new chairman of the Financial Regulator’s consultative industry panel.

While consumer lawyer Raymond O’Rourke is set to retain the chairmanship of the consumer panel.

Informed sources said that Went had accepted the industry role and would replace former HSBC Ireland chief executive James Deeny on the panel.
