Mountshannon Road in Kilmainham is an eminently Edwardian street. Many of its handsome houses retain the original front doors with distinctive brassware, elaborately leaded glass and pretty porch tiles.

These houses also come with side lanes for access to the back to avoid the ‘‘bicycle in the hall’’ element of redbrick terrace living. At the height of the property boom a house on this road sold for over €1.2 million.
