Web’s governing body holds town hall meeting today in Dublin

ICANN will shortly oversee internet’s move out of US state control

ICANN, the internet’s governing technical body, is holding a public gathering at Dublin’s Convention Centre today which 2,500 delegates are expected to attend.

ICANN gatherings are known for forthright and sometimes tumultuous debate between industry stakeholders.

ICANN is a not-for-profit corporation which develops policy on internet IP addresses and domain names and shapes the evolution of the internet. Its future is under discussion as it moves to operate independently of the US government.
