Warning that NUI abolition would fail to raise €3m

The abolition of the National University of Ireland will not raise €3 million as estimated in the Bord Snip report, according to its registrar.

The abolition of the National University of Ireland will not raise €3 million as estimated in the Bord Snip report, according to its registrar.

Dr Attracta Halpin told The Sunday Business Post that the calculations in the report were not realistic.

The report said progress was being made to amalgamate a number of qualification groups into one body. It said it was likely that the qualifications functions of the NUI would also be amalgamated.
