Warning sounded on bank draft fraud

Following a series of attempted frauds, the Irish Banking Federation (IBF) has warned people to be careful about accepting bank drafts as payment.

Following a series of attempted frauds, the Irish Banking Federation (IBF) has warned people to be careful about accepting bank drafts as payment.

The IBF cautioned that fraudsters had recently tried to obtain goods using stolen and counterfeit bank drafts.

‘‘Before bank drafts are accepted From unknown persons, the presenter should be satisfactorily identified,” said the federation.
