Volvo has built its 15 millionth vehicle, a C70 coupe convertible. The first Volvo, the A-V4, was built in 1927, which in Swedish means an open-top car with a four-cylinder engine.
In 1927, just 27 cars were built. It was only after World War II that production exceeded 100,000 cars per year and today, the company builds about 400,000 cars annually.
Volvo has a justifiable reputation for safety, having fitted the world’s first seatbelt in 1959.
