Volkswagen’s German HQ raided as emissions probe heats up

Retrofit on 430,000 US vehicles could take ten years, Congress committee told

Volkswagen’s senior manager Michael Horn told a US congressional Energy and Commerce committee this afternoon that it may have to retrofit about 430,000 diesel vehicles with costly add-on tanks or other equipment in order to meet emissions standards, a process that could take years.

German prosecutors also raided Volkswagen’s headquarters and other offices today as part of their investigation into the carmaker’s rigging of diesel emissions tests.
