Volkswagen bags top spot despite 18.5% sales drop

Sales of Volkswagen passenger cars in Ireland fell 18.5 per cent in January, according to new figures. However, the marque sold more cars than rivals here.

Sales of Volkswagen passenger cars in Ireland fell 18.5 per cent in January, according to new figures. However, the marque sold more cars than rivals here.

Volkswagen sold 2,137 cars in Ireland in January, down from 2,622 cars in January 2012, a fall of 18.5 per cent.

This drop in sales is in line with a general fall in new car registrations in Ireland.
