Vodafone Ireland sees smartphone usage rise by a third

Vodafone Ireland has retained its position as Ireland's preferred telecommunications provider with a total customer base of 2.45 million at the quarter ended 31st December 2012.

The number of Irish Vodafone customers using smartphones on the network reached 972,000.

Mobile phone operator Vodafone said that it added 95,000 new smartphone users in the last quarter to the end of December, an increase of 37.5% year-on-year.

The number of customers using smartphones on the network reached 972,000, representing 48 per cent of the total mobile customer base.

Vodafone Ireland’s contract base stood at 778,900 at the end of December, representing growth of 18,300 on the previous quarter, although its average revenue per user fell 0.3 per cent to €31.40....
