Vince Cable fined for non-payment of VAT

Britain’s business secretary Vince Cable was fined £500 (€575) for failing to pay as much as £25,000 in value-added tax, the *Sun* newspaper reported.

An unidentified spokeswoman for Cable said the minister had been unaware that the VAT, covering payments made for media work before he was named business secretary in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat government in May last year, was due.
