Vhi Healthcare must set aside at least €300 million in reserves after a decision by the European Court of Justice

Vhi Healthcare must set aside at least €300 million in reserves after the European Court of Justice found that Ireland is in breach of its EU obligations by exempting it from being regulated by the Central Bank.

The decision was welcomed by VHI’s competitors who have long argued that the state’s largest health insurer should be regulated on the same basis as others in the market.
