Vet says she was fired for being pregnant

A female vet has claimed that she was fired by Norbrook Laboratories, the pharmaceutical company owned by multimillionaire Co Louth businessman Edward Haughey, because she was pregnant.

A female vet has claimed that she was fired by Norbrook Laboratories, the pharmaceutical company owned by multimillionaire Co Louth businessman Edward Haughey, because she was pregnant.

Vikki Halliday, 33, told an employment tribunal in Carlisle, England, last week that she was dismissed on October 9, 2006 - the day she returned to work after two weeks sick leave related to her pregnancy.

She had been working at Norbrook’s operation at Kingstown in Carl isle for five months....
