The barbecue is often seen as the preserve of the carnivore. What could be more primal than throwing a hunk of bloodied meat on the fire and eating it with the juices dripping down your hands? While this may sound delicious to some, for others it signifies everything that's wrong with our nutritional intake today.

The vegetarian barbecue requires more imagination, but can be just as delicious as one involving meat or fish.
