Vayu, an Irish energy company, is planning to shake up the Irish electricity market by developing its own power station and taking on the ESB.

The Dublin company has been awarded an electricity licence by the Commission for Energy Regulation and plans to invest ‘‘hundreds of millions of euro’’ establishing a foothold in the electricity market.
