Vat failure ‘will hit hundreds of businesses’

Hundreds more retailers will go out of business and thousands of jobs will be lost because of the government’s failure to cut the rate of Vat, according to a retail representative group.

Retail Excellence Ireland had lobbied for a cut in the Vat rate in last week’s supplementary budget, but the rate was not changed.
