Sports minister Leo Varadkar is to table a range of alternative measures to cabinet to fend off proposals for a ban on alcohol firms' sponsorship of sports from junior health minister Alex White.
White is expected to bring a memo to cabinet in two weeks' time outlining suggested reforms on alcohol pricing, access and presentation in shops, as well as proposals to eliminate or curtail alcohol sponsorship in sport.
