UTV weighs up swoop for Scottish rival

Ulster Television (UTV) chief executive John McGann has been keeping a low profile of late, and not just because he is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained while out cycling.

The chief executive, who has been with UTV since 1983, is believed to have spent at least part of his period in convalescence totting up the numbers for a possible audacious swoop on rival Scottish Media Group (SMG).
