US stock futures fell as President Barack Obama claimed victory after countrywide elections yesterday.

US stock futures fell as President Barack Obama claimed victory after countrywide elections yesterday.

S&P 500 futures expiring in December dropped 0.3 per cent after declining as much as 1 per cent.

“Arguably investors did not factor the risk of an Obama victory sufficiently, as his re-election has raised the probability that sequestration will go into effect,” Andrew Swan, head of Asian fundamental equities at BlackRock, said in a note.
