US still tied to legacy of 9/11

Less than a month from now, another ten-year anniversary will occur. October 7, 2001 marked the beginning of the US-led war in Afghanistan. The Taliban appeared to have been defeated by the end of that year.

At the time, very few people would have taken a bet that, a decade later, around 100,000 US and Nato troops would still be in Afghanistan. But they are, and real stability in the country continues to be only an aspiration...
