For those who yearn for digital company while eating alone at cafes or restaurants, a new range of iPhone-friendly crockery and tableware looks set to sweep US restaurants.

A new "anti-loneliness bowl", designed by New York-based Miso Soup Design, aims to cater for single diners who wish browse their iPhones while eating.

The iBowl is moulded to accommodate a standard-sized iPhone slotted in at the rim.
