US owners want to expand Clare resort

The owners of the upmarket Doonbeg resort in Co Clare plan to build a new conference and banqueting centre, opening up the venue to weddings and corporate functions.

The owners of the upmarket Doonbeg resort in Co Clare plan to build a new conference and banqueting centre, opening up the venue to weddings and corporate functions.

The development of the 14,000square-foot centre, which will overlook the Atlantic, is in the early planning stages and it should be open by 2010.

When completed, total investment in the Doonbeg resort, which includes a championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, will be more than €150 million....
