A leading US bond investor has become Ireland's single biggest private sector creditor after agressively buying Irish government bonds, the Financial Times has reported.
Franklin Templeton funds, a San Francisco-based firm which holds $158 billion in assets, owned €6.1 billion of Irish government debt at the end of June.
Most of this was held by Templeton Global Bond Fund, run by Michael Hasenstab, the FT said.
