US home values rise for first time since 2006

Home values gained an estimated six percent in the US this year, the first increase since 2006, as the housing market began to recover from its worst slump since the 1930s, the property listing service Zillow said today.

Home values gained an estimated six percent in the US this year, the first increase since 2006, as the housing market began to recover from its worst slump since the 1930s, the property listing service Zillow said today.

Values have climbed more than $1.3 trillion to $23.7 trillion since the end of last year and probably will continue to rise in 2013, the Seattle-based home-listing service said in a statement.
