A number of major US investment firms are circling Barchester Healthcare, as the Irish-owned nursing home operator scales up its efforts to secure a £1.4 billion debt refinancing.

Several US players, including some quoted investment funds, acquired portions of the firm's debts at a recent debt auction, as they seek to position themselves for any potential restructuring at Barchester.
