US college teams could give Irish basketball a real lift

US college basketball giants Notre Dame will take on the international teams of Poland, Ireland and Iceland at the inaugural Emerald Hoops International Series, which begins on Thursday at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Dublin.

The participation of Notre Dame is the first step in a major development for Basketball Ireland, which is aiming to attract top US college teams to Ireland every year.
