Mobile operators look set to double their mobile broadband speeds this year.Lastmonth,O2 announced that its upgraded HSPA+ network was now live in all Irish cities.

Mobile operators look set to double their mobile broadband speeds this year.Lastmonth,O2 announced that its upgraded HSPA+ network was now live in all Irish cities.

The network allows speeds of upto 21 megabits per second (Mbs), an increase of 50 per cent on its current standard.

Meanwhile, Vodafone's chief technology officer, Fergal Kelly, has said that 3G broadband speeds could hit 84 megabits per second (Mbs) in the next two years.
