Unwilling lenders still the main mortgage blockage - survey

The biggest impediment to people taking out mortgages continues to be lenders not willing to lend said three quarters of financial brokers asked in one survey.

The biggest impediment to people taking out mortgages continues to be lenders not willing to lend said 73 per cent of financial brokers, according to the latest survey from PIBA, the country’s largest group of financial brokers.

That is a 12 per cent rise in the second quarter of 2012 compared to a similar survey in the first quarter. The survey also showed that 55 per cent of brokers are seeing an increase in demand for mortgages.
