Union at Tara Mines votes to accept company's proposal

Agreement contains commitment to future capital investment of €110 million to maintain the mine’s operation to 2018 and beyond.

A long-running industrial dispute at Tara Mines in Co Meath may be coming to a close after Siptu members voted to accepted a proposal from the owners.

Among the key clauses contained in the proposed agreement is a commitment by multinational Boliden, the owners of Tara Mines, to provide future capital investment of €110 million to maintain the mine’s operation to 2018 and beyond.
