Pharmacy group Unicare paid more than €51 million for 11 pharmacies owned by the McSweeney Group last year, according to new figures.

Pharmacy group Unicare paid more than €51 million for 11 pharmacies owned by the McSweeney Group last year, according to new figures.

The McSweeney deal, which was first reported by The Sunday Business Post late last year, followed a strategic review of the business, according to the directors’ report in new accounts filed by the group. It said the company’s reliance on bank borrowings meant it had a high financial risk profile.
