Unemployment in Britain drops to lowest in six years

Unemployment in Britain fell more than forecast to its lowest level in six years and wage growth picked up for a second month, official data showed today.

Unemployment in Britain fell more than forecast to its lowest level in six years and wage growth picked up for a second month, official data showed today.

The jobless rate dropped to six per cent in the three months to the end of August, from 6.2 per cent, the Office of National Statistics said.

Wages grew an annual 0.7 per cent over the same period.
