Unemployed lawyers figure increases five-fold

The number of lawyers out of work has risen five-fold since 2007, according to figures published by the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA).

The number of lawyers out of work has risen five-fold since 2007, according to figures published by the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA).

The DSBA survey, based on statistics from the Department of Social and Family Affairs, says there were 1,347 unemployed legal professionals at the end of May, compared to just 289 lawyers out of work at the start of 2007. Seven out of ten of the unemployed lawyers are women.
