A new body representing commercial debt advisory firms has met with the Financial Regulator to discuss the need to regulate the industry.
The Debt Management Association of Ireland (DMAI) was launched last month to promote higher standards among commercial debt advisers.
It is keen for its members to be required to comply with the Consumer Protection Code, which is currently being revised.
