Ulster says breakdown may have affected 550,000

UPDATE: Ulster Bank CEO Jim Brown has told the Dail's finance committee that up to half of its Irish customers have been affected by the breakdown.

Ulster Bank's chief executive Jim Brown has said as many as 550,000 people may have been affected by the bank's technical breakdown.

As he appeared before the Oireachtas finance committee today, Brown said the bank's first estimate was that 100,000 people were affected but he now guessed that around half of Ulster Bank’s 1.1 million customers may have been affected.
