Ulster Bank to close 20 branches

Ulster Bank could close 20 of its 235 branches on the island of Ireland, according to reports.

Bank workers’ trade union IBOA said in a statement that it is to meet senior management in Ulster Bank next week to discuss the restructuring plans.

Ulster Bank could close 20 of its 235 branches on the island of Ireland, according to reports.

The bank is understood to have begun discussions with some staff on reducing its branch network by about 8 per cent, with closures broadly equally split between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The move is part of the bank’s plan, announced last year, to shed 950 staff.
